“To me it was an
enormous joy to see the whole Injil in my language!”
In the last newsletter
for 2007 we would like to share a letter with you. It came from a
young Tatar woman some time ago:
“Greetings in the name of Gaisa*!
“My name is Amira* and
I am 24 years old. I am a Tatar, but live in Central Asia, where I
was born. I became a believer 8 years ago and so far I am the only
one in my family who believes in Gaisa.
“I speak Tatar badly,
but my heart is crying for the Tatars. I always pray for my people
with tears. I could write much more but will be brief:
“My family and the
Tatars in general are very stubborn. They cannot possibly accept the
Bible in Russian, Kazakh or Uzbek. Recently one of my friends gave
me the most valuable gift I ever received – the Injil* in Tatar. I
knew that the Epistles existed in Tatar and to me it was an enormous
joy to see the whole Injil in my language! As soon as my mother saw
the Injil she literally tore it from me and hid it under her
mattress in order to read it secretly! I don’t know if it is
possible to find this book anywhere here, but you are the only ones
I know who have the Injil. I have many relatives and friends who are
Tatars and I know that this book would open the door to the kingdom
of God for them. I beg you to send me some more copies of the Injil,
and if possible some other books in Tatar. I know that you don’t
know me and that I live far away, but please! To me this would be an
invaluable gift. Even now, when I read or just look at this book, I
am crying because I know that it comes from the heart of God and
that He loves the Tatars as much as He loves all other peoples. It
is my dream to see a Tatar church where everything is done in Tatar
and where God is worshipped in our language.”
Gaisa = Jesus

Injil = New

Amira is not
her real name
The Tatar Injil
(New Testament) was printed in 2001. Now the Old Testament is being
translated – the goal is to publish it by 2010.
Please support the Bible
translation into Tatar
– the 6 million Tatars need the whole Bible in their language!
Our warmest wishes
for Christmas and the New Year!
